Anger Management
We want to help individuals to explore their anger, recognise that it is a valid emotion, and that each of us has a responsibility for how to express that anger.
How we can help
Family Support Services provides an environment for you to explore your attitudes to relationships, working through your anger management issues.
We provide group work and individual counselling for you to explore the psychology of your behaviour, learning alternative ways to express yourself. We look at how unhelpful thinking habits can result in inappropriate behaviour and together we can discover ways to recognise our irrational thoughts and therefore change our behaviour.
Group work
The Introduction to Anger Management Groups run regularly. They consist of 6 weekly 2 hour sessions for up to 10 people at a time. We run separate groups for men and women at this time. We can offer both daytime and evening groups dependent on the need. Follow up groups are available.
Individual counselling
It may be more appropriate to work individually on your anger issues to start with and then to join a group later, or you may have a number of issues that need to be looked at where individual counselling may be better for you. We will provide you with a counsellor that can work through your issues with you at your own pace.
How to access Anger Management Support
You can refer yourself or be referred by an agency for Anger Management Support by contacting us and we will arrange an initial assessment where we can decide whether group work or individual support is more appropriate. There is no cost for the group, however we do ask for an initial non-refundable booking fee of £25 which covers the assessment, and administration costs.
Anger is a feeling. I have a choice how to react to that feeling.
