We’re here,
for you.
Domestic Abuse
We want to show each individual that they are of value and that they are loved, when often all their worth has been stripped away from them.
Domestic abuse is not just physical violence
The Government defines domestic abuse as ‘any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality’.
How we can help
Family Support Services (FSS) offers a safe environment for you to deal with the effects of domestic abuse. You may need practical support (such as housing or benefit help) and emotional support and we will work through these needs with you as they arise.
We provide both individual and group work to help you to evaluate your situation and empower you to make appropriate decisions for your future.
We also offer a place to work through your issues as a couple if you choose to stay with your partner. Both partners will need to recognise that they may need to change and we may recommend that you are seen individually first to determine the best way to support each individual.
You can call to arrange an appointment, at a time convenient to you, to discuss the support you require. We believe it is important for you to feel comfortable talking to your counsellor and so it is important that we work on this relationship.
What next?
You can call us to arrange an appointment during working hours. If we are unable to answer the phone then you can leave us a message and a safe number that we can call you on and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Remember, if you are in physical danger always call the police (dial 999).
